That was stated by Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi, in his video address to the participants of the International Conference “Nuclear Energy Opportunities for Country’s Development: Wartime and Postwar Reconstruction”, organized by Energoatom.

Raphael Grossi reminded of the support of Ukraine before the start of the war and assured that the aid would be provided long after the end of the war.

In particular, the IAEA received more than 140 missions of support and assistance for Ukrainian power plants - ZNPP, KhNPP, RNPP, SUNPP and ChNPP. Last month was the tenth time of Director General to Ukraine since the beginning of the war; during that trip, he met with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi.

“The IAEA has worked hand in hand with Energoatom, with the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate, and with the Ministry of Energy. I have met often with Petro Kotin and German Galushchenko,” Grossi said.

In his speech, Director General of the IAEA emphasized the protection of Ukraine’s nuclear energy infrastructure: “We must preserve this important source of electricity for Ukraine today and for the time after this war is over. I promise we will be there to assist Ukraine in expanding the capacity of Khmelnytskyi NPP”.

According to him, the world refocuses on nuclear power to support the green energy transition and to improve energy security, and Ukraine will not be left behind.

“We will be there to rebuild. Ukraine, again, will have one of Europe’s biggest nuclear power programs,” Raphael Grossi emphasized.
